my proverb

Give a man a coffee and you keep him awake all day. Teach a man how to brew a pot of coffee and you keep him awake all night.

As unnecessary as a well is
to a village on the banks of a river,
so unnecessary are all scriptures
to someone who has seen the truth.
Bhagavad Gita (translated by S. Mitchell)
This is my coffee mug. There are many like it, but this one is MINE. My coffee mug is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My coffee mug without coffee is useless. Without my coffee, I am useless. I must drink my coffee quickly. I must drink faster than the barista who is trying to serve the next person. I must drink it before he shoots me a dirty look. I will… My coffee mug and I know that what counts in the morning are not the rounds of beer we bought last night, the noise from our apartment, nor the cigarettes we smoked. We know it is the shots of espresso that count. We will drink shots… My coffee mug is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its handle, and its rim. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage. I will keep my coffee mug clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will… Before God I swear this creed. My coffee mug and myself are the defenders of my sanity. We are the masters of my energy level. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no more manic coffee energy, but SLEEP. ****************************************************************************** Adapted by Tommy D from My Rifle (The Creed of a United States Marine) by Major General W.H.

I will…

My coffee mug and I know that what counts in the morning are not the rounds of beer we bought last night, the noise from our apartment, nor the cigarettes we smoked. We know it is the shots of espresso that count. We will drink shots…

My coffee mug is human, even as I, because it is my life.

We will…

Before God I swear this creed.
My coffee mug and myself are the defenders of my sanity.
We are the masters of my energy level.
We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until there is no more manic coffee energy, but SLEEP.
